We're happy to announce the recent release of our generic import feature today. We received a lot of questions from you about importing tabular data from other sources besides Microsoft and Google.
You would be surprised to hear that it's not always possible to integrate with an API. Luckily most vendors support exporting licensing data to CSV or Excel files one way or another.
We concluded that importing licensing information via files would be an excellent way to open up our synchronisation engine to all your other vendor licenses.
That's why we set out to build our new CSV and Excel importer tool! With this new feature you can import licensing data from your Antivirus, Backup, Datto SAAS protection and Voip vendors, just to name a few.
How it works
We put a lot of effort into making this process as easy as possible.
Step 1: upload your CSV or Excel file
Step 2: map the relevant columns to tell us where the find the right information
Step 3: link your contracts to Autotask
It'll be even easier next time you upload an updated version of your file. We store your mapping configuration from the first import. Upload again and we'll make the necessary changes to your contract in a jiffy.
Support for consumption data
We're finishing up support for consumption data as well. By consumption data we mean usage data: instead of the number of licenses, you receive a charge per customer or per resource that was used during the last billing cycle.
A perfect example would be Azure Cloud billing.
We're working out ways to automate the upload step to completely remove the need for any manual work.
On top of all of that, we're still working hard to integrate with vendors that offer API access to their licensing data too.
We can't wait to share these new time-saving features with you. Be sure to keep an eye on this space!
Available to everyone
This new feature is available in preview mode to everyone today, including trial accounts.
